The Serval Cat also known as the tierboskat, is a wild "cat-o-nine-tail" found in Africa. It is the sole is part of the genus Leptailurus and was first is a description of German naturalist Johann Christian Daniel von Schreber in 1776. Eighteen subspecies are recognised. After a gestational reporting period two to 3 month, a litter of one to four is digest. Weaning occurs at one month, and kittens embark hunting on their own at six months. The youths leave their father at 12 months .

The serval opts areas with treat such as reeds and tall grass and close proximity to water torsoes, such as wetlands and savannahs. It is rare in northern Africa and the Sahel, but widespread in southern Africa. The International Union for the Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources( IUCN) categorizes the serval as least fear. It occurs in protection areas across its range, and hunting of servals is either vetoed or regulated in several countries .
