The Serval Cat also known as the tierboskat, is a wild cat may be in Africa. Servals are carnivores- they prey on rodents( especially vlei rats ), small-minded birds, frogs, bugs, and reptiles. The serval expends its sense of hearing to situate the target; to kill tiny prey, it leaps over 2 m( 6 ft 7 in) above the soil to land on the prey on its forefeet, and finally kills it with a bite on the cervix or the manager. Mating takes region at different times of its first year in different parts of their scope, but normally once or twice a year in an area. After a gestational reporting period two to three months, a offspring of one to four is stand. Weaning occurs at one month, and kittens begin hunting on their own at six months. The minors leave their father at 12 months .
The serval favors areas with cover such as reeds and towering grasses and close proximity to liquid torsoes, such as wetlands and savannahs. It is rare in northern Africa and the Sahel, but pervasive in southern Africa. The International Union for the Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources( IUCN) categorizes the serval as least regard. It occurs in protected areas across its range, and chase of servals is either prohibited or regulated in several countries .
