After a gestational reporting period two to 3 month, a litter of one to four is birth. Weaning occurs at one month, and kittens embark hunting on their own at six months. The minors leave their mother at 12 months .

The serval opts areas with plow such as reeds and towering grasses and close proximity to ocean organizations, such as wetlands and savannahs. It is rare in northern Africa and the Sahel, but pervasive in south Africa. The International Union for the Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources( IUCN) classifies the serval as least relate. It occurs in protected areas across its assortment, and hunting of servals is either proscribed or regulated in several countries .
