Mating takes residence at different times of its first year in different parts of their scope, but generally once or twice a year in an area. After a gestational period of two to three months, a litter of one to four is accept. Weaning occurs at one month, and kittens embark hunting on their own at six months. The teenagers leave their mom at 12 months .

The serval favors areas with embrace such as reeds and tall grass and close proximity to liquid figures, such as wetlands and savannah. It is rare in northern Africa and the Sahel, but widespread in south Africa. The International Union for the Conservation of Nature and National resources( IUCN) classifies the serval as least refer. It occurs in protection areas across its assortment, and hunting of servals is either proscribed or regulated in several countries .
