Mating takes neighbourhood at different times of its first year in different parts of their range, but commonly once or twice a year in a region. After a gestational reporting period two to 3 month, a litter of one to four is bear. Weaning occurs at one month, and kittens begin hunting on their own at six months. The juveniles leave their father at 12 months .
The serval favors areas with covering such as reeds and tall grasses and proximity to water organizations, such as wetlands and savannahs. It is rare in northern Africa and the Sahel, but widespread in south Africa. The International Union for the Conservation of Nature and National resources( IUCN) classifies the serval as least headache. It occurs in protected areas across its range, and hunting of servals is either vetoed or regulated in several countries .
