The Serval Cat also known as the tierboskat, is a wild feline found in Africa. It is the sole member of the genus Leptailurus and was first described by German naturalist Johann Christian Daniel von Schreber in 1776. Eighteen subspecies are recognised. Mating takes region at different times of the year in different parts of their range, but often once or twice a year in an area. After a gestational reporting period two to 3 month, a litter of one to four is stand. Weaning occurs at one month, and kittens embark hunting on their own at six months. The minors leave their mom at 12 months .

The serval prefers areas with handle such as reeds and tall grass and proximity to liquid bodies, such as wetlands and savannah. It is rare in northern Africa and the Sahel, but widespread in south Africa. The International Union for the Conservation of Nature and National resources( IUCN) classifies the serval as least anxiety. It occurs in protection areas across its scope, and chase of servals is either vetoed or regulated in several countries .
