The Serval Cat also known as the tierboskat, is a wild cat found in Africa. It is the sole member of the genus Leptailurus and was first is a description of German naturalist Johann Christian Daniel von Schreber in 1776. Eighteen subspecies are recognised. After a gestational period of two to 3 month, a litter of one to four is carry. Weaning occurs at one month, and kittens embark hunting on their own at six months. The teenagers leave their mom at 12 months .
The serval prefers areas with include such as reeds and towering grass and close proximity to ocean organizations, such as wetlands and savannah. It is rare in northern Africa and the Sahel, but widespread in southern Africa.
