The Serval Cat also known as the tierboskat, is a wild cat found in Africa. It is the sole is part of the genus Leptailurus and was firstly is a description of German naturalist Johann Christian Daniel von Schreber in 1776. Eighteen subspecies are recognised. Mating takes place at different times of its first year in different parts of their scope, but generally once or twice a year in an area. After a gestational reporting period two to three months, a offspring of one to four is accept. Weaning occurs at one month, and kittens embark hunting on their own at six months. The juveniles leave their mom at 12 months .
The serval wishes areas with embrace such as reeds and tall grass and proximity to liquid mass, such as wetlands and savannah. It is rare in northern Africa and the Sahel, but widespread in southern Africa. The International Union for the Conservation of Nature and National resources( IUCN) classifies the serval as least concern. It occurs in protected areas across its scope, and chase of servals is either vetoed or regulated in several countries .
