The Serval Cat also known as the tierboskat, is a wild "cat-o-nine-tail" found in Africa. It is the sole is part of the genus Leptailurus and was first described by German naturalist Johann Christian Daniel von Schreber in 1776. Eighteen subspecies are recognised. Mating takes residence at different times of the year in different parts of their assortment, but commonly once or twice a year in an area. After a gestational period of two to 3 month, a offspring of one to four is assume. Weaning occurs at one month, and kittens embark hunting on their own at six months. The juveniles leave their mom at 12 months .

The serval wishes areas with handle such as reeds and towering grasses and close proximity to water organizations, such as wetlands and savannahs. It is rare in northern Africa and the Sahel, but widespread in south Africa. The International Union for the Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources( IUCN) classifies the serval as least anxiety.
