The Serval Cat also known as the tierboskat, is a wild cat found in Africa. It is the sole member of the genus Leptailurus and was firstly is a description of German naturalist Johann Christian Daniel von Schreber in 1776. Eighteen subspecies are recognised. Mating takes home at different times of its first year in different parts of their scope, but often once or twice a year in an area. After a gestational period of two to three months, a litter of one to four is abide. Weaning occurs at one month, and kittens embark hunting on their own at six months. The juveniles leave their mom at 12 months .

The serval wishes areas with cover such as reeds and tall grasses and close proximity to sea figures, such as wetlands and savannah. It is rare in northern Africa and the Sahel, but pervasive in southern Africa. The International Union for the Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources( IUCN) classifies the serval as least regard. It occurs in protection areas across its assortment, and chase of servals is either vetoed or regulated in several countries .
