Mating takes residence at different times of its first year in different parts of their scope, but commonly once or twice a year in a region. After a gestational period of two to 3 month, a litter of one to four is carry. Weaning occurs at one month, and kittens begin hunting on their own at six months. The juveniles leave their father at 12 months .
The serval wishes areas with plow such as reeds and tall grass and close proximity to water mass, such as wetlands and savannahs. It is rare in northern Africa and the Sahel, but pervasive in south Africa. The International Union for the Conservation of Nature and National resources( IUCN) categorizes the serval as least anxiety. It occurs in protection areas across its scope, and chase of servals is either prohibited or regulated in several countries .
