Mating takes neighbourhood at different times of its first year in different parts of their range, but normally once or twice a year in an area. After a gestational period of two to 3 month, a offspring of one to four is suffer. Weaning occurs at one month, and kittens embark hunting on their own at six months. The adolescents leave their mother at 12 months .
The serval favors areas with covering such as reeds and tall grasses and close proximity to sea forms, such as wetlands and savannahs. It is rare in northern Africa and the Sahel, but pervasive in southern Africa. The International Union for the Conservation of Nature and National resources( IUCN) categorizes the serval as least fear.
