Active in the working day as well as at night, servals tend to be solitary with minimal social interaction. The serval use its sense of hearing to locate the prey; to kill small prey, it leaps over 2 m( 6 ft 7 in) above the ground to land on the prey on its forefeet, and finally kills it with a bite on the cervix or the president. Mating takes place at different times of its first year in different parts of their assortment, but typically once or twice a year in a region. After a gestational reporting period two to 3 month, a litter of one to four is carry. Weaning occurs at one month, and kittens embark hunting on their own at six months. The juveniles leave their mom at 12 months .
The serval prefers areas with consider such as reeds and towering grasses and proximity to ocean mass, such as wetlands and savannahs. It is rare in northern Africa and the Sahel, but pervasive in south Africa. The International Union for the Conservation of Nature and National resources( IUCN) classifies the serval as least concern. It occurs in protection areas across its scope, and chase of servals is either vetoed or regulated in several countries .
