The Serval Cat also known as the tierboskat, is a wild "cat-o-nine-tail" may be in Africa. Servals are carnivores- they prey on rodents( specially vlei rats ), small-minded chicks, frogs, bugs, and reptiles. The serval applies its sense of hearing to pinpoint the target; to kill tiny target, it leaps over 2 m( 6 ft 7 in) above the soil to land on the prey on its forefeet, and finally kills it with a bite on the cervix or the president. Mating takes home at different times of its first year in different parts of their scope, but normally once or twice a year in an area. After a gestational period of two to three months, a offspring of one to four is carry. Weaning occurs at one month, and kittens begin hunting on their own at six months. The adolescents leave their mom at 12 months .
The serval favors areas with handle such as reeds and tall grasses and proximity to liquid organizations, such as wetlands and savannah. It is rare in northern Africa and the Sahel, but widespread in south Africa. The International Union for the Conservation of Nature and National resources( IUCN) classifies the serval as least relate. It occurs in protection areas across its scope, and hunting of servals is either proscribed or regulated in several countries .
