Mating takes place at different times of its first year in different parts of their range, but often once or twice a year in an area. After a gestational period of two to three months, a offspring of one to four is accept. Weaning occurs at one month, and kittens embark hunting on their own at six months. The youths leave their father at 12 months .
The serval prefers areas with extend such as reeds and tall grass and close proximity to sea organizations, such as wetlands and savannah. It is rare in northern Africa and the Sahel, but pervasive in south Africa. The International Union for the Conservation of Nature and National resources( IUCN) classifies the serval as least regard.
