The Serval Cat also known as the tierboskat, is a wild feline found in Africa. It is the sole member of the genus Leptailurus and was first is a description of German naturalist Johann Christian Daniel von Schreber in 1776. Eighteen subspecies are recognised. Mating takes home at different times of the year in different parts of their range, but generally once or twice a year in an area. After a gestational period of two to three months, a offspring of one to four is suffer. Weaning occurs at one month, and kittens begin hunting on their own at six months. The minors leave their father at 12 months .

The serval prefers areas with consider such as reeds and towering grasses and proximity to sea organizations, such as wetlands and savannah. It is rare in northern Africa and the Sahel, but widespread in south Africa. The International Union for the Conservation of Nature and National resources( IUCN) classifies the serval as least fear.
