The Serval Cat also known as the tierboskat, is a wild "cat-o-nine-tail" found in Africa. It is the sole is part of the genus Leptailurus and was first is a description of German naturalist Johann Christian Daniel von Schreber in 1776. Eighteen subspecies are recognised. After a gestational period of two to 3 month, a litter of one to four is stand. Weaning occurs at one month, and kittens embark hunting on their own at six months. The youths leave their mom at 12 months .
The serval prefers areas with spread such as reeds and tall grass and close proximity to ocean organizations, such as wetlands and savannahs. It is rare in northern Africa and the Sahel, but widespread in south Africa. The International Union for the Conservation of Nature and National resources( IUCN) classifies the serval as least pertain. It occurs in protected areas across its assortment, and chase of servals is either proscribed or regulated in several countries .
