The Serval Cat also known as the tierboskat, is a wild feline found in Africa. It is the sole member of the genus Leptailurus and was firstly is a description of German naturalist Johann Christian Daniel von Schreber in 1776. Eighteen subspecies are recognised. Mating takes region at different times of its first year in different parts of their range, but often once or twice a year in a region. After a gestational period of two to three months, a offspring of one to four is abide. Weaning occurs at one month, and kittens embark hunting on their own at six months. The minors leave their mom at 12 months .
The serval favors areas with treat such as reeds and towering grass and proximity to water mass, such as wetlands and savannah. It is rare in northern Africa and the Sahel, but widespread in south Africa. The International Union for the Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources( IUCN) classifies the serval as least relate.
