Mating takes place at different times of the year in different parts of their scope, but often once or twice a year in an area. After a gestational reporting period two to 3 month, a offspring of one to four is tolerate. Weaning occurs at one month, and kittens begin hunting on their own at six months. The minors leave their mother at 12 months .
The serval opts areas with treat such as reeds and tall grass and proximity to liquid organizations, such as wetlands and savannah. It is rare in northern Africa and the Sahel, but pervasive in southern Africa. The International Union for the Conservation of Nature and National resources( IUCN) categorizes the serval as least concern. It occurs in protected areas across its scope, and chase of servals is either proscribed or regulated in several countries .
