Mating takes neighbourhood at different times of its first year in different parts of their assortment, but generally once or twice a year in a region. After a gestational reporting period two to three months, a litter of one to four is assume. Weaning occurs at one month, and kittens begin hunting on their own at six months. The youths leave their mother at 12 months .

The serval wishes areas with plow such as reeds and towering grasses and proximity to ocean bodies, such as wetlands and savannah. It is rare in northern Africa and the Sahel, but pervasive in south Africa. The International Union for the Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources( IUCN) classifies the serval as least relate.
