Mating takes neighbourhood at different times of its first year in different parts of their scope, but normally once or twice a year in an area. After a gestational reporting period two to 3 month, a litter of one to four is accept. Weaning occurs at one month, and kittens begin hunting on their own at six months. The minors leave their mom at 12 months .

The serval opts areas with treat such as reeds and tall grasses and proximity to ocean figures, such as wetlands and savannahs. It is rare in northern Africa and the Sahel, but pervasive in south Africa. The International Union for the Conservation of Nature and National resources( IUCN) categorizes the serval as least headache. It occurs in protection areas across its scope, and chase of servals is either prohibited or regulated in several countries .
