The adolescents leave their mom at 12 months .
The serval prefers areas with treat such as reeds and towering grass and close proximity to water mass, such as wetlands and savannah. It is rare in northern Africa and the Sahel, but widespread in southern Africa. The International Union for the Conservation of Nature and National resources( IUCN) categorizes the serval as least fear. It occurs in protection areas across its assortment, and chase of servals is either proscribed or regulated in several countries .
