The serval opts areas with spread such as reeds and tall grasses and proximity to liquid mass, such as wetlands and savannahs. It is rare in northern Africa and the Sahel, but widespread in south Africa. The International Union for the Conservation of Nature and National resources( IUCN) categorizes the serval as least anxiety. It occurs in protected areas across its assortment, and chase of servals is either vetoed or regulated in several countries .
