Mating takes region at different times of its first year in different parts of their scope, but generally once or twice a year in a region. After a gestational period of two to 3 month, a litter of one to four is tolerate. Weaning occurs at one month, and kittens embark hunting on their own at six months. The minors leave their mother at 12 months .

The serval opts areas with embrace such as reeds and towering grass and proximity to sea torsoes, such as wetlands and savannah. It is rare in northern Africa and the Sahel, but pervasive in south Africa. The International Union for the Conservation of Nature and National resources( IUCN) categorizes the serval as least headache. It occurs in protected areas across its assortment, and hunting of servals is either proscribed or regulated in several countries .
