Mating takes residence at different times of the year in different parts of their scope, but typically once or twice a year in a region. After a gestational period of two to three months, a litter of one to four is suffer. Weaning occurs at one month, and kittens begin hunting on their own at six months. The juveniles leave their mother at 12 months .
The serval opts areas with handle such as reeds and towering grass and close proximity to water bodies, such as wetlands and savannah. It is rare in northern Africa and the Sahel, but pervasive in south Africa. The International Union for the Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources( IUCN) classifies the serval as least regard. It occurs in protection areas across its range, and chase of servals is either prohibited or regulated in several countries .
